CHELSEA HANDLER, JOHN MCENROE, WORKHOUSE CEO ADAM NELSON, BIRD IN HAND'S ANDREW NUGENT EAST HAMPTON, N.Y - WORKHOUSE + Bird in Hand served as proud partners to Tennis Hall of Famer John McEnroe who has continued his commitment to the sport through the Johnny Mac Tennis Project (JMTP), which changes young lives by removing the economic and social barriers to success through tennis. In support of that important mission, the legend offered a chance to “Hang Out in the Hamptons with Mac” during a weekend of special events that he hosted with a little help from a few of his friends including tennis stars James Blake and Mats Wilander, Patrick & Mark McEnroe, 8 year old tennis phenom Summer Chandler, four time Emmy Award winning producer and daughter of Calvin Klein, Marci Klien, Nielsen Global President/COO & Event Host Steve Hasker, and many more. On Saturday, August 27, the “Dinner Under the Stars with the Stars,” included an evening with John McEnroe at SPORTIVE Amagansett who was joined by comedian Chelsea Handler and singer/songwriter Patty Smyth (lead singer, Scandal). The next day the JMTP Pro Am got underway where participants competed in a round robin doubles tournament alongside pro partners, including John and Patrick McEnroe, current WTA and ATP World Tour professionals and legends. JMTP introduces the sport of tennis as a life-long health, fitness and social activity to thousands of under-resourced New York City area kids, particularly those living in East Harlem and the South Bronx.
