Musings from Workhouse, CEO Adam Nelson:
"Thirty year friendships are the most meritorious. Especially when the music might not have been continuous but the song is forever cherished. I met Sofia Sondervan Bild in the early Nineties in a New York City that must have been ad-libbed by my imagination. A time where ingenious artistic knots filled every coffee house. Olden days that now seem orbital. Where every planet of persona knew one another in another kind of Manhattan. Streets of strivers, and creative truck drivers, who wanted to do more than survive they longed to come alive. Sofia‘s the rarest kind of rhinestone. She’s got the kind of gleam that gives warmth in any weather. Through all of her many adventures, be it Ed Pressman’s Content Film, Sony Pictures, or Dreamworks she aided our agency with the kind of film work worth celebrating. So it was some enchanted afternoon when we got to band together once again to host the first-ever Producers Union event. The star-studded Directors & Producers panel included Michael Shannon + Sarah Green, Karl Hartman (Eric LaRue), Deanna Barillari + Chelsea Peretti (First Time Female Director - Tribeca '23), Sterlyn Ramirez + Gabriella A. Moses (Boca Chica - Tribeca '23), Josh Peters + Hannah Peterson (The Graduates - Tribeca '23), Brittany Snow + Lizzie Shapiro (Parachute 2023), moderated by Lola Adesioye at our clients iconic restaurant as part of a Workhouse -conceived two weeks of Tribeca Film Festival events at Gigino Trattoria: Where the cinematic cool meets Italian cuisine." TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL: Michael Shannon's Eric Larue at Gigino Trattoria with Alexander Skarsgård6/12/2023 As part of a Workhouse-conceived two weeks of Tribeca Film Festival events at Gigino Trattoria, our client’s iconic Tribeca restaurant owned by renowned filmmaker Bob Giraldi, the venue was proud to host the official Premiere party for Eric Larue at this years fest. Gigino Trattoria has never been out of fashion. A Tribeca staple where the cinematic cool meet iconic Italian cuisine.
Michael Shannon directs an adaptation of Brett Neveu’s 2002 play about a mother coping with the fallout after her son murders three of his high school classmates. Janice (Judy Greer) is struggling; she moves through life as if in a haze, unable to let go of her anger and frustration. While her husband (Alexander Skarsgård) has found refuge at a new church, Janice finds it hard to seek solace in her faith despite her pastor’s pleas to heal her wounds by meeting with the mothers of her son’s victims. As Janice ponders what that meeting could achieve for her and her community, Eric LaRue asks audiences to witness the frayed emotional ripples that violent acts can engender. Anchored by Greer’s deeply arresting performance, Shannon’s directorial debut grapples head-on with frustratingly timely conversations about who deserves our compassion and grace. Standout supporting turns by Tracy Letts and Alison Pill, who capture a subtly unnerving vision of spiritual fanaticism, stress the film's interest in complicating facile views of atonement and forgiveness in light of such tragedies. #michaelshannon #ericlarue #alexanderskarsgard #tff #tribeca #giginotrattoria #film #movie #cinema #indiefilm #workhousepr@ Christopher Walters Showcases Ukrainian Stand-Up Comics' Courageous Comedy Amidst War-Torn Realities, Introduces American Media Ukraine Esteemed director Christopher Walters shines a spotlight on the enduring human spirit amidst war and chaos in his captivating documentary, COMEDY OF WAR: LAUGHTER IN UKRAINE.
