JULIANNE MOORE
WORKHOUSE & Bird in Hand were proud to host the New York Premiere of Freeheld which stars Oscar winner Julianne Moore and Ellen Page by Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment at the Museum of Modern Art. The two stars received heaps of praise for their portrayal of two real-life domestic partners, Laurel Hester (Moore) and Stacie Andree (Page), who fight for New Jersey police officer Hester to be able to leave her pension benefits to Andree upon being diagnosed with lung cancer. Based on a true story, the 2005 case was the subject of an Oscar-winning documentary. The biographical drama, is simply about love. The Academy Award-winner also noted that despite lingering obstacles to marriage equality the LGBT movement has made "great strides" in the 10 years since Lieutenant Laurel Hester fought for her equality. At the film’s after-party held at Omar’s, a cozy townhouse restaurant located in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village, a relaxed Page mingled with well-wishers alongside her real-life girlfriend, Samantha Thomas, while her costars Michael Shannon and Josh Charles spoke with friends. Nearby, Moore shared an animated conversation with director Sollett. Also in attendance were host Andrew Nugent of Bird in Hand, Workhouse CEO, Adam Nelson and producers Kelly Bush Novak, Michael Shamberg and Julie Goldstein.

In this new position, Nelson will serve as Asbury Park Boardwalk’s brand ambassador providing strategic planning and management across national marketing mediums and platforms. These aspects include the promotion of specialty events, experiential marketing, consumer outreach, public relations, and social media messaging. Nelson will also support Madison Marquette’s leasing efforts through the development of cutting edge collateral to communicate the unique qualities of the Asbury Park Boardwalk. He remains Founder & CEO of his award-winning New York-based public relations firm WORKHOUSE (www.workhousepr.com).

“We are delighted to welcome Adam Nelson to our growing Asbury Park development team,” stated Peter Tomai, Managing Director, Investments, Madison Marquette. “Adam’s broad experience and international perspective is a critical element of our drive to grow awareness of the dramatic transformation and energy building along the Asbury Park waterfront.”

In this new position, Nelson will lead Waterfront communications on behalf of Madison Marquette as we launch our next phase of development including Asbury Park’s historic Fifth Avenue Pavilion and Band shell.

“I am drawn to Asbury Park which I believe is America’s next great city. The dynamic mix of entertainment, architecture, and hospitality speaks to me. I am thrilled to oversee Madison’s mission to create consumer cultural experiences while breaking revolutionary new ground. The opportunity to devote my passion to the benefit of all who walk the boards is the very definition of a dream come true,” said Adam Nelson, Director of Communications, Madison Marquette.

Madison Marquette has long been leading the redevelopment of Asbury Park, one of the most beautiful waterfronts on the Eastern seaboard, with a remarkable 400,000+ square foot re-imagination of the historic boardwalk that has helped restore the broad appeal of this storied beachfront community. Responsible for the current revitalization of the Asbury Park Boardwalk, this nationally recognized developer has seven successful and unique full-scale restaurants and lounges, numerous specialty food concepts, and innovative boutiques that fill over 70,000 square feet of retail space. Madison has partnered with Live Nation to bring top tier talent to five nationally recognized entertainment waterfront venues, each owned and operated by Madison Marquette, including Convention Hall, Paramount Theatre, Wonder Bar, and the world famous Stone Pony. A truly thriving musical community, this “city-by-the-sea” enjoys unparalleled architecture and a rich history as one of the most famous resort destinations of the 20th century. In addition to Asbury Park, Madison Marquette is also establishing a dynamic new 385-acre mixed-use destination in Harrison Township, NJ (Richwood) and a 270,000 square foot town center near Princeton University in Montgomery Township (Montgomery Promenade).
